To that end, the University is searching for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to serve as Director of the Center for Student Diversity. Help articulate the value of diversity in terms integral to our Catholic mission, rooted in the intrinsic dignity of each person as a child of God, made in the image of God.

This position is in the division of Student Life and is a crucial resource for the development of students of color and other underrepresented populations on campus. In addition to event programming, this office will actively enhance diversity and intercultural understanding among the entire University community. This office is responsible for the daily operations of the Center for Student Diversity (CSD), reports to the Assistant Dean/Director of Center for Involvement & Belonging with direct oversight from the Dean of Students, and contributes to efforts related to student retention and overall diversity and inclusion connected to the University’s Strategic Plan. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction, development, assessment, training, and oversight for equity and inclusion programs, initiatives, and practices and serve as a liaison with offices/units.
  • Supervise the CSD welcome center/lounge/common space.
  • Attend the Cultural Council, which includes student leadership representative from all of the CSD student organizations.
  • Represent CSD on various signature events such as Orientation (June & August), Residence Life Opening, Family Weekend, and Admissions events.
  • Partner extensively and inclusively to promote the integration and participation of students of color and other underrepresented populations into campus life.
  • In collaboration with the VP of Equity and Director of DEI Training & Development, create, develop, and perform student-focused trainings and curriculum.
  • Gather and share qualitative and quantitative data on the effectiveness and impact of CSD-oriented belonging and engagement programming.
  • Offer tactical strategies focused on assessment and program execution at The Center for Student Diversity based on students’ demands.
  • Hire, train, and supervise the Deputy Director for Diversity Programs & Belonging, Graduate Assistant, and student workers.
  • When needed, serve as a member of the Bias Incident Response team in addressing bias related incidents between and among students.
  • Facilitate difficult dialogues with students in response to bias incidents or campus climate concerns.
  • Advocate for inclusive policies and practices to address barriers that disparate impact underrepresented students.
  • Serve as an advocate for students, and share information with students, colleagues, and other interested parties that promote student success, retention, and graduation.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Students.

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field and have a proven record of success in higher education diversity leadership and/or administration.  
  • Demonstrated success engaging and collaborating with people representing diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the Catholic, liberal arts mission of the University.   
  • Uphold University policies and procedures and help students/student groups to do so.
  • Build relationships with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, perspectives, beliefs, and experiences.
  • Able and willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Experience in experiential training and facilitation is preferred, and willingness to work with faculty and integrate programming with curricular priorities is expected.

This is a full-time position with full benefits and annual, holiday and sick leave.
