Student Success Coach - Research Foundation for SUNY

This position is located on the campus of the State University of New York at Old Westbury. Employment, payroll and benefits are through and subject to the Research Foundation for SUNY policies and procedures. The Research Foundation for SUNY is a private educational corporation.

This is a temporary, full-time, twelve (12) month grant funded position. The position is grant funded until September 30, 2025.

The Student Success Coach is responsible to provide specified cohorts of students with comprehensive curricular and co-curricular planning, college process and resource navigation that augments existing academic supports.  The Coach works to counsel, motivate, advise, and assess student needs, goals, and interests to ensure academic success and improve the College's retention and completion results.

The Student Success Coach will:

  • Advise and create degree plans for lower-division students.
  • Design individual academic progress plans for students who require special consideration and support.
  • Monitor student academic progress toward completion and career development, consistent with college policies and requirements.
  • Use analytical data to provide targeted outreach efforts to students who fall into an at-risk or high-risk category.
  • Coordinate and conduct with other academic advisors early alert campaigns for targeted student cohorts or gateway courses.
  • Connect students to academic, personal, financial, career and other college resources.
  • Assist students in establishing academic and career goals and promote student growth by linking career and life goals to educational programs and services.
  • Design and coordinate student programming and student support initiatives for targeted student populations.
  • Supervise student workers.
  • Occasional evening hours may be required in support of special projects/events.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in higher education.
  • Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and working with student academic and social challenges.
  • Strong relationship-building attributes such as empathy, concern and commitment to student success.
  • Knowledge of academic advisement, educational planning, career and personal counseling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in higher education.
  • Knowledge of student development theory and transition issues.


Additional Information:

Salary Range:           $55,000 - $60,000 commensurate with education and experience and includes a comprehensive benefit package.

The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
