Under the general direction and supervision of the Administrative Director of Student Accounts, the Account Clerk I performs cashiering and customer service duties supportive of the student accounts and/or fiscal services department. Initiative and judgment are necessary to plan, organize, and complete the assigned duties. The position performs clerical and bookkeeping tasks to support accounts receivable, accounts payable, cashiering, and other accounting-related functions. This position includes receipting income and assisting in preparing bank deposits. The role will serve as a resource to faculty, staff, students, and third parties. This is a full-time regular position.

Essential Functions


Cashiering Functions

    • Operate the reception area for student accounts.
    • Greet and assist customers and students with questions and payments.
    • Receipt payments from students, outside agencies, and SCC departments/areas (including but not limited to the bookstore, housing, parts department, department production funds, childcare, and cafeteria).
    • Assist in preparing bank deposits
    • Answers the student accounts ACD (what does this mean?) line and chat feature, directing calls or assisting students with questions and payments.
    • Provides excellent customer relations and confidentiality with essential attention to the FERPA laws.

 

 Accounts Receivable

  • Enters or removes holds on past-due accounts when appropriate. 
  • Proper filing of invoices and receipt information.

 Bookstore Accounts/Invoices

  • Assist in authorizing and establishing student charge accounts for bookstore charges in the software management system.

 Production

  • Receipts and records production revenue from various departments. 
  • Maintains and updates the listing of completed production orders.

 Tuition Payment Plans

  • Works directly with students and parents to explain the payment plan and assists them in enrollment.
  • Manages and reports any adjustments or cancellations to the individual agreements.

 
Accounts Payable

  • Monitors vendor statements and assists with resolving any discrepancies. 
  • Scans and indexes AP invoices, data entry documents, statements, and other necessary documents.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by student accounts and fiscal services to perform the related duties and support operations of the College as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High School Graduate or GED.
  2. Two (2) years of responsible work experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or related business activity.
    • One (1) year of post-secondary business or accounting training may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

$14.93
