The Mendoza College of Business seeks a tenured faculty member at the associate or full rank, as appropriate with an active research agenda, who will become a senior member of one of Mendoza's five departments and assume the faculty director role for the Meyer Business on the Frontlines Program (Frontlines; botfl.nd.edu). Frontlines is a signature program within the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame that is rooted in the belief that there is dignity in work and that all people can be empowered to contribute to society. Frontline's core mission is to serve MBA students and partners on business- and peace-related projects in the field through set of courses and initiatives. Through these projects, Frontlines creates a unique student service learning experience and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world. This is a senior faculty position, with a tenure home in any of the College's departments: (a) Accountancy, (b) Finance, (c) Information Technology, Analytics, and Operations, (d) Marketing, or (e) Management & Organization. Salary will be market competitive. Such a tenured appointment would need to be vetted by the appropriate departmental and university committees. Therefore, research prominence in the field and evidence of excellent teaching are required.

 

Key activities:

 

• Continue to develop a compelling vision and strategic plan for Frontlines, which results in Frontlines strengthening its position as a world-class program for using business as a means to address societal challenges

• Identify opportunities for research and/or research collaborations that could connect the Frontlines program with experts in Mendoza and beyond by contributing Frontlines projects and data to impact the literature

• Thoughtfully lead a team of faculty and administrators who work together to bring the Frontlines vision to life, including the Managing Director and Frontlines Communication Strategy Specialist

• Oversee a multi-year operational plan and budget from an extensive Frontlines endowment

• Provide expertise and executive leadership that fosters engagement from the top leaders of leading national and international potential partner organizations

• Develop relationships with prospective partners, oversee project scopes of work (SOW) and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) collaboratively with other faculty in the program, and support continued program philanthropy efforts in partnership with others

• Identify novel opportunities for leveraging the Frontlines alumni, the Notre Dame network, and Frontlines partners to Grow the Good in Business, which is the Mendoza College's imperative

• Deepen existing partner relationships to create outstanding value for Frontlines partners (e.g., multi-year projects, multiple teams, research, policy advocacy) that leverage unique ND strengths

• Foster continued professionalization and standardization efforts to help Frontlines build a powerful foundation for decades of impactful work

• Advise students and teams to deliver on Frontlines initiatives

• Coordinate with university-level leaders and programs to facilitate mutually supportive efforts toward common goals

• Coordinate courses with departments and work with faculty that are already teaching, and will continue to teach, courses in the Frontlines program

 

Qualifications:

 

• Ph.D. in relevant field aligned with one of our five departments

• A world-class research and teaching record, commensurate with tenure standards at top schools in one of Mendoza’s five departments

• Ideal candidates will bring a servant heart, empathy, strong situational and cultural awareness, high levels of emotional intelligence, multiple language fluencies, excellent problem-solving skills and experience teaching MBA students

• Core skills include problem-solving, institution building, leading, and team-building
