Qualifications:

 

Saint Mary’s College of California invites applications for a full-time salaried adjunct position (non-tenure track) in computer science to start in July 2024. The initial appointment is a one-year position, which may be renewed depending on the department’s needs. The candidate hired will be responsible for teaching 18-25 CUs (each course is typically 3-4 CUs) during the Academic Year. The candidate hired will be responsible for teaching coursework in data structures and algorithms (CS 222 Programming II and CS 374 Analysis of Algorithms), and other topic areas within computer science depending on the candidate’s background and expertise. The Mathematics and Computer Science department at Saint Mary’s will make every effort to minimize the number of course preps taught in the academic year. For example, the candidate hired would teach CS 222 both in the Fall and in the Spring.

 

Service includes but is not limited to: committee work, departmental meetings, advising, task forces, assessment, orientation and recruiting events, and special projects assigned by the Chair and Dean.

 

The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellence and growth in teaching, a passion for educating undergraduate students, and a desire to contribute to increasing diversity in the computing and data professions, and to supporting the success of students from diverse backgrounds.

 

Required minimum qualifications:

 

A Ph.D. in Computer Science, or a closely related field

 

A record of publication, or evidence of future research potential.

 

Demonstrated record of teaching or teaching potential, such as past teaching experience or experience as a graduate teaching assistant.

 

Demonstrated experience in mentoring underrepresented students in the sciences; or knowledge of ways that minoritized groups have been marginalized in computing and data fields and their applications and approaches to address these issues.

The salary range for this position is $75,522-$101,891 (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NAAgJN24dlU_AHCQFyjisMlMzqgNMrnh/view) for 25 wu and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021 (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iMq54hZVvyJovI2FtEnCVQKpNqW7J8ed/view).
