The Assistant Director of Student Affairs is responsible for promoting a culture of student engagement for all students-the majority of which are commuter students, supervising the Coordinator of Residence Life, managing the student conduct process, and planning and directing student activities and involvement to include managing student organizations, DEIB initiatives, community service activities, and advising the campus' Student Government Association. This includes developing collaborative partnerships with units across the campus, offering programs of interest that foster a sense of community among the students and affinity to the campus and region, and providing engaging and relevant community service opportunities.

 

The Assistant Director is a vital part of the team in helping to continue the vision and mission of the department. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Director of Student Affairs and Athletics for directing, supervising, and administering the residence life functions.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Direct supervise, and administer the residence life functions for a residence hall community

 

  • Professional staff supervision

 

  • Paraprofessional staff selection and training

 

  • Program development and coordination and event operation oversight

 

  • Manage crisis situations and serve in the on-call rotation

 

  • Policy development and implementation

 

  • Budget development and oversight

 

  • Serve as advisor of student organizations including the Student Government Association and act as a resource to all clubs, organizations and their advisors

 

  • Oversee the student conduct process

 

  • Represent residence life on student affairs, campus and system-wide committees

 

This position will work in concert with the Director of Student Affairs and Athletics to develop and implement a residential cocurricular model. Individual will serve in a planning and coordinating capacity at the central level.

 

This position requires a master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience. This is a live-in position. The successful candidate must possess an understanding of college student development theory as well as excellent communications skills, writing skills, and supervisory experience. In addition, excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with other departments are necessary.

 

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

 

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
