Under the general direction and supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director, the Part-Time Head Women’s Soccer Coach manages and directs the day-to-day operations of the Soccer operations and for the services of coaching an athletic team in Beatrice, NE. The Head Women’s Soccer Coach also advises and supervises athletic activities on and off campus, ensures the safety and welfare of all students, and enforces all NJCAA and college policies and procedures. This is a part-time, temporary position covering the soccer season and recruiting time as agreed. Evening, overnight, holiday, and weekend student supervision is a regular part of the job.

Essential Functions                          
The Assistant Athletic Director assigns and directs the coach to carry out the following responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a working knowledge of the NJCAA eligibility rules and
  2. Attend meetings as scheduled by the Athletic
  3. Coordinate all aspects in coaching his/her sport as follows:

Recruitment: Recruit students/athletes who are of college caliber and maintain a full team.
Team travel: Responsible for team conduct on all trips, following departmental policies on trips, and returning college vehicles in clean order.
Equipment: Work with the Assistant Athletic Director to order team equipment, distribute, and collect all team-issued equipment.
Administration: Prepare team rosters, keep receipts of all money transactions, and provide appropriate forms, report all scores to designated media, attend all meetings, such as Southeast Staff, Region IX, and provide necessary information for team and individual honors to Region IX.
Academic Monitoring: Support and enforce all academic monitoring rules and procedures.

  1. Maintain a working knowledge of his/her sport and transmit it to the players; field a competitive and representable
  2. Maintain good working relationships with the coaching
  3. Exhibit professional appearance, conduct, and behavior during athletic contests and when representing Southeast Community
  4. Comply with the Athletic Trainers’ decision regarding the participation of the injured
  5. Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Athletic

Marginal Functions

  1. Establish and maintain direct contact with area high schools as well as other relevant local public agencies.
  2. Transport or coordinate the transportation of students to medical or other
  3. Transport or arrange transportation of students to and from transportation facilities to make travel
  4. Provide appropriate counseling and referral assistance for
  5. May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as
  6. Perform other College functions and duties as
  7. Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of NJCAA rules and their applications, with the ability to interpret and apply NJCAA
  2. Knowledge of Soccer practice planning and organization, game preparation and management, conditioning, and
  3. Ability to organize and motivate student-athletes.
  4. Ability and skills to provide personal and emotional counseling for
  5. Ability to drive a school vehicle (automobile or van).
  6. Knowledge and ability to recognize, identify, and resolve potential student problems.
  7. Ability and skills to articulate policies to students, verbally and in written
  8. Ability to work, communicate, and develop rapport with students, alumni, administration, and community.
  9. Ability and skills to communicate effectively with groups and individuals in problem
  10. Ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person, and on the
  11. Ability to apply fair and equitable disciplinary sanctions upon students who have violated established
  12. Knowledge and ability to use basic computer skills for word processing, database management, email, and other administrative
  13. Ability to exert up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects, including the human Mobility is frequently required.
  14. Knowledge and ability to prevent and care for athletic injuries and make appropriate referrals to the proper medical
  15. Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalency.
  2. Experience with recruiting and training athletes in
  3. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  4. Ability to qualify for auto insurance

Desired Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  2. Previous coaching
  3. Athletic participation in the sport

Schedule

This is a part-time temporary position with assignments based on program needs, covering the soccer season and recruiting time as agreed. Evening, overnight, holiday, and weekend student supervision is a regular part of the job. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
