Franklin, MA United StatesDean College's School of Liberal Arts is looking for dynamic, experienced, student-centered educators to teach sections of Composition I and Composition II during the spring semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.
We are seeking an adjunct instructor for English Composition II which is a 3-credit course and meets 3 hours/week in person on MWF from 1:00pm-1:50pm. The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Humanities program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.

ENG 112 Composition II
This course is a continuation of the two-semester college writing requirement. The coursework continues to emphasize and develop critical thinking and argument in academic writing and additionally requires independent research writing. The integration of visual elements into formal papers, MLA formatting and documentation, and editing strategies, are also taught and reinforced. Prerequisite: C- or better in ENG 111 or permission of the Dean for the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Preparation, Training and Experience:
- Master's degree in English, or a related discipline area is required. Ph.D. in a related discipline, preferred.
- Experience teaching composition and literature, preferably with a minimum of three years.
- Experience teaching at the college level is required. Experience teaching first- and second-year undergraduates is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, required.
- Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required.
- Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media is required.
- Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required.
- Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required.
- Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles is required.
