Senior Director of Residential Life and Conduct

The Senior Director of Residential Life and Conduct provides strategic leadership for the Residence Life program, including supervision of a residential coordinator, budget oversight, and crisis response. The position serves as a key member of the Student Services leadership team and acts as the Dean of Students' designee when needed. Responsibilities include managing student conduct, leading early intervention and case management efforts, and fostering a diverse and inclusive residential community. The role also involves cross-campus collaboration with academic support, facilities, dining services, public safety, and external vendors to ensure student well-being and community standards. After 12 months, the position may be restructured to an assistant/associate dean.

Essential Functions:  

Department Leadership:

  • Serve in place of the Dean of Students in their absence, and by designation
  • Provide overall vision and leadership for Residence Life Program
  • Represent Residence Life to students, parents, visitors and members of the campus community
  • Manage the department budget, and collaborate on any capital budget spending for residence hall renovations
  • Provide leadership to create an inclusive residential environment which embraces cultural diversity

Conduct and Case Management:

  • Assist the Dean of Students with coordination of support to students in crisis, ensuring appropriate support and communication with stakeholders
  • Administer the Student Emergency Fund
  • Manage the Student Conduct process under the supervision of the Dean of Students and create case management records
  • Serve as a senior Hearing Officer for Student Conduct
  • Consult with Title IX office regarding case overlap

Student Services Leadership:

  • Serve on leadership team of Student Services
  • Participate in Dean-on-Call duty rotation and coordinate the Residence Director and Resident Coordinator on-call rotations
  • Sit on behavioral intervention team for distressing and distressed students
  • Actively seek and develop collaborations with Student Services departments
  • Be a visible and engaged member of the Student Services team by routinely attending programs and events on campus, including evening and weekend programs
  • Serve on committees as assigned

Campus and Community Partnerships:

  • Address health, safety, security, and maintenance issues in residence halls, working closely with the directors of Public Safety and Facilities Management
  • Liaise with Westminster Dining regarding student interests and concerns
  • Oversee contracts with outside vendors

Job Requirements:

Education:  Master’s Degree in Higher Education, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.

Experience: 4 years of progressive leadership in Student Services, including significant experience in Residence Life required. Supervisory experience including managing full-time professional staff and student employees required. Experience with crisis response and student conduct processes required. Budget planning and management experience required.
