Under the general direction and supervision of the Administrative Director of Client Services, the Information Systems Technician will install, configure, and maintain client workstation hardware and software systems and provide technical assistance to system users in a networked environment. The technician will also be required to install, configure, and maintain client workstation peripheral equipment, phones, camera, door access, and audio/video systems in a networked environment. This is a full-time regular position.

Essential Functions

Workstation Setup and Support

  • Set up and deploy client workstations for user applications.
  • Troubleshoot, replace, and configure hardware components and peripheral devices such as monitors, keyboards, printers, etc., for Windows and Apple client workstations.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot licensed software packages.
  • Utilize client management software to deploy and maintain client workstations as directed by the Network Systems Technician.
  • Use appropriate diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques and equipment to identify problems at the board or module level.
  • Maintain and repair defective client workstation peripheral equipment using proper tools and techniques.

Audio/Visual and Peripheral Systems

  • Install, mount, configure, and maintain audio/video systems, including media carts, projectors, TVs, document cameras, digital signage, and A/V conferencing equipment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain phones, cameras, and door access systems. Assist departments and users in researching new computer hardware and software to meet specific technology needs.

Network and Infrastructure Support

  • Provide technical assistance with network switches and servers when requested and directed by the Network Systems Technician.
  • Deploy wireless access points as directed.
  • Install, terminate, maintain, and troubleshoot network cabling used in the college network, under the direction of a Network Systems Technician.

User Support and Communication

  • Respond to user inquiries in person, via email, and by telephone regarding workstation operations.
  • Provide training to users on the proper use of technology.
  • Create and document work orders using IT work order software and communicate updates to users.

Professional Development

  • Attend technical conferences and seminars to stay current on new software and hardware developments.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school with an emphasis in electronics or computer technology.
  2. One (1) year of related work experience.

OR

  1. Three (3) years of verifiable full-time work experience in client workstation installation, configuration, and maintenance.

Salary

$27.58 per hour

Benefits

SCC BEN Dollars – Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee’s paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).

Schedule

Normal working hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40-hour work week, based on a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek
