The Office of Clinical Experiences and Candidate Services helps teacher candidates to successfully navigate and complete teacher preparation programs.
 
The Field Placement Specialist is a multi-faceted position supporting students in their clinical experiences for programs within the College of Education and Social Work and across the Professional Education Unit.
 
The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience and commitment to student advocacy; the ability to develop sustainable relationships with school and school district personnel; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills; and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Management of field placement requirements and fulfillment
  • Collaborate with Associate Director and Field Placement Specialist, faculty, and departments across the college and Professional Education Unit to manage and identify specific field requirements
  • Maintain a current and accurate account of enrollment data
  • Develop a current and accurate record of all field site contacts 
  • Correspond with field site personnel regarding field placements requests 
  • Communicate field placement information and status to faculty and students 
  • Correspond with partner sites regarding background clearance documentation
  • Provide student support before, during and after the field experience
  • Maintain a current and clear understanding of field site protocols as it relates to field placements
  • Assist and support the Office of Candidate Services with background checks and the clearance process
  • Other duties as assigned

 

  • Minimum Qualifications

  •  

    • Bachelor's degree 
    • Demonstrated understanding of operations in local PreK-12 schools and school districts
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel

     

  • Preferred Qualifications

  •  

    • Demonstrated understanding of operations and experiences in other sites that provide experiences for programs within the college 
    • Demonstrated understanding of field experiences, student teachers, and school operations in a variety of settings 
    • Demonstrated understanding of the clearance application process
    • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to manage calendars, create communications and  reports to manage and analyze data
    • Demonstrated experience using OnBase, Qualtrics and Anthology
