Beatrice, NE United StatesUnder the general direction and supervision of the Dean of Students, the Student Affairs Technician is responsible for providing services, information, support, and guidance to students, staff, and the public in the areas of Admissions, Registration and Records, Financial Aid, and general Student Services. Normal work hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Essential Functions
Provide Customer Service
- Deliver positive, welcoming assistance to prospective and current students, guests, faculty, staff, visitors, and the general public.
- Handle telephone inquiries on a multi-line telephone system.
Participate and Function as a Member of the Student Affairs Team
- Participate as a member of the Student Affairs team with cross-training opportunities in Registration, Admissions, and Financial Aid.
- Participate in ongoing training in these functional areas.
- Provide general College information to students, staff, and the public.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and division documents and/or respond to telephone and in-person inquiries as assigned.
- Assist the Dean of Students with correspondence, minutes, reports, and other duties as needed.
Admissions Services
- Provide prospective students with information regarding College admissions and specific program requirements, deadlines, and information.
- Serve as a point of contact for students regarding the admissions process and transitioning to college.
- Assist in the processing of prospects and applications.
- Facilitate prospective student tour scheduling, including correspondence with students/families, faculty, and coaching staff; manage tour group email mailbox; coordinate tour schedules; and schedule tour transportation.
- Lead individual and group tours.
- Provide mailings for prospects and high school visits.
- Coordinate athletic prospects with Admissions. Schedule, facilitate, and provide college tours to prospective students.
Registration Services
- Provide information about course availability, prerequisite requirements, course descriptions, the College catalog, and college policies.
- Register credit students.
- Maintain and update student records and update student information, such as address changes and contact information.
- Maintain student records in accordance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including FERPA guidelines.
Assessment Services
- Provide alternate coverage for the Testing Center as needed.
- Proctor student tests and assignments as needed.
Financial Aid Services
- Provide information about the Financial Aid process and policies to current, new, and prospective students.
Operate Office Machines
- Operate personal computer including printer, fax machine, copy machine, calculator, mail machine, scanner, telephone with voice mail: software including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access, Excel, web browsers, Ellucian Colleague UI, Informer, and admissions software.
- Operate a scanner to image documents into an electronic document database.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree* or two (2) years of post-secondary education in the area of office technology, business, computer technology, communications, education, or related field
- One (1) year of work experience in an educational setting, business office, financial institution, or related student services area such as admissions, financial aid, or registration.
* Five (5) or more years of office experience or work in Higher Education may be substituted for an Associate’s Degree.
Salary
$18.69 per hour
Benefits
SCC BEN Dollars – Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee’s paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).
Schedule
Normal working hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40-hour work week, based on a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
