The Workforce Navigator plays a crucial role in supporting individuals pursuing careers in the construction industry. This position provides personalized guidance and support throughout the entire job search, development, and placement process. The Workforce Navigator works closely with participants to assess their skills and interests, identify suitable job opportunities, develop job readiness skills, and connect them with employers seeking qualified construction professionals.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Workforce Navigator reports to the Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education Trades Program Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participant Outreach and Recruitment: Actively recruit individuals interested in construction careers through outreach efforts, community events, and partnerships with relevant organizations.
- Individualized Career Counseling: Conduct initial assessments to understand participants' skills, experience, career goals, and barriers to employment. Develop individualized career plans outlining steps for job search success.
- Job Search Assistance: Assist participants with identifying and applying for relevant construction job openings. Provide guidance on navigating online job boards, networking, and utilizing other job search resources.
- Resume and Cover Letter Development: Help participants create professional resumes and cover letters tailored to the construction industry, highlighting relevant skills and experience.
- Interview Preparation: Conduct mock interviews to help participants develop effective interviewing skills and build confidence. Provide feedback and coaching on interview techniques.
- Skills Development: Connect participants with training programs and resources to enhance their construction skills and obtain necessary certifications (e.g., OSHA, safety training).
- Employer Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with construction employers to understand their hiring needs and identify potential job opportunities for participants. Actively market participants' skills and qualifications to employers.
- Job Placement and Follow-Up: Facilitate the job placement process by connecting participants with employers. Provide ongoing support and follow-up to ensure successful job retention.
- Case Management: Maintain accurate records of participant progress, including career plans, job search activities, job placements, and follow-up activities.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the WSCE Trades Program Manager, other staff members, and community partners to ensure comprehensive support for participants.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Collect and track relevant data on participant outcomes, including job placements, wages, and retention rates. Prepare reports as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in business, counseling, human resources, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Demonstrated experience in workforce development, career counseling, or job placement services.
- Knowledge of the construction industry and related trades preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational and case management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
