Dean College's School of Liberal Arts is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach in person General Psychology during the Fall 2025 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.

 

We are seeking an adjunct instructor to teach PSY-111: General Psychology. PSY-111 is a 3-credit class that meets for 2.5 hours/week.  The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Psychology program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.

 

The course description is as follows: This course introduces students to the scientific discipline of psychology and prepares them for advanced coursework in the field. Students will learn how social scientists think as they study various perspectives of psychology and use a biopsychosocial model to explore human behavior and thinking. Topics may include: historical developments and theorists, research methods, biological systems, sensation, perception, learning, memory, human development, psychological disorders, psychotherapy, and social psychology.

We are hiring for one in-person section of PSY-111: General Psychology. This section is scheduled for Tuesday & Thursday from 11:00am-12:15pm.

 

Preparation, Training and Experience:

  • Master's degree in psychology or a related field is required; PhD in psychology or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the college level in person is required; experience teaching first and second year undergraduates is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required.
  • Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media is required.
  • Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required.
  • Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles, required.
