Franklin, MA United StatesDean College's School of Liberal Arts is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Abnormal Psychology during the Fall 2025 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.
We are seeking an adjunct instructor to teach PSY-201: Abnormal Psychology. PSY-201 is a 3-credit class that is being offered in an asynchronous online format. The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to be available virtually on a daily basis. The Psychology program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.
The course description is as follows: This course introduces students to understanding, diagnosing, and, to a lesser degree, treating human distress and disorders. Students will become familiar with the current version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and use a biopsychosocial perspective to understand various case studies. Topics may include these disorders: anxiety, depression, bipolar, substance use, dissociative, feeding and eating, disruptive, impulse control, conduct, schizophrenia, psychotic, and personality.
We are hiring for one asynchronous online section of PSY-201: Abnormal Psychology.
Preparation, Training and Experience:
- Master's degree in psychology or a related field is required; PhD in psychology or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience teaching online at the college level is required; experience teaching first and second year undergraduates is preferred.
- Strong computer skills are required.
- Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required.
- Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required.
- Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media is required.
- Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required.
- Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles, required.
