Dean College's School of Liberal Arts is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach in person Personality during the Fall 2025 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.

We are seeking an adjunct instructor to teach PSY-332: Personality. PSY-332 is a 3-credit class that meets for 2.5 hours/week.  The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Psychology program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.

The course description is as follows: This course introduces students to the study of personality. Students will examine the major theories of personality: psychodynamic, humanistic, behavioral, cognitive, and trait theory. Topics may include historical contexts, key concepts, research, personality development, personality assessment, and, to a lesser degree, methods of therapy.

We are hiring for two in-person sections of PSY332: Personality. They are scheduled as follows:

Tuesday & Thursday from 8:00am-9:15am
Tuesday & Thursday from 9:30am-10:45am

 

Preparation, Training and Experience:

  • Master's degree in psychology or a related field is required; PhD in psychology or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the college level in person is required; experience teaching junior and senior undergraduates is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required.
  • Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media is required.
  • Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required.
  • Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles, required.
