Under the general direction and supervision of the Administrative Director, Registration & Records, and the Associate Director, Registration & Records, the Registration Technician is responsible for registration services, maintaining and updating student records, assist with College and departmental reports and projects, fulfill transcript requests, assist with transfer credit processes, assist with dual credit enrollment and reporting, verify student enrollment, provide customer service for the Registration/Records Office, uphold Institutional responsibilities to students and participate on the Registration Team. This is a full-time position.

Essential Functions

Provide Registration Services

  1. Provide registration services for students, including undeclared, Continuing Education, high school, dual credit, and career academy students.

Maintain and Update Student Records

  1. Update student information, which includes address change, contact information, demographics, and academic records.

Assist with College and Departmental Reports and Projects

  1. Assist with reports in the Registration department and from other departments.
  2. Respond to requests from external agencies and organizations when appropriate.

Maintain Course Equivalency Information

  1. Work with area colleges and outside entities to maintain a course equivalency list within SCC’s student information system (SIS).
  2. Ensure accuracy and consistency in the transfer credit evaluation process.
  3. Update equivalencies on an annual basis to reflect course changes at Southeast Community College and/or other colleges

Evaluate Transfer Credit

  1. Evaluate credits from other accredited post-secondary institutions to determine the applicability of coursework towards SCC programs.
  2. Coordinate the transfer of program-specific courses with instructional divisions.
  3. Evaluate military credits using the ACE guides as a reference.

Record Advanced Standing Credit to Student Records

  1. Record transfer of credit, credit by waiver, and pass by exam credit to student transcripts.
  2. Determine a student’s eligibility for academic bankruptcy and record the bankruptcy in the student’s academic transcript.

Provide Customer Service for the Registration/Records Office

  1. Answer questions related to records and the registration process.

Uphold Institutional Responsibilities to Students

  1. Maintain and protect student records in accordance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including FERPA guidelines.
  2. Provide support for and participate in Enrollment Management events.

Participate in the Registration Team

  1. Serve as a member of the Registration Team to assist in the formulation and revision of registration and records processes and procedures.
  2. Serve as backup for other Registration positions within the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Associate’s degree or two (2) years of college in Business Administration, Office Professional, Computer Information Technology, or related field.
  2. One (1) year of office work experience.

Salary

$18.02 per hour

Benefits

SCC BEN Dollars – Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee's paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).

Schedule

Normal working hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40-hour work week, based on a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
