Assistant Coach Women's Basketball

Reporting to the Head Women's Basketball Coach, the Assistant Coach will assist in developing, organizing and administering all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III Women's Basketball team.  This is a four (4) month, part-time position.

Responsibilities include:

  • recruiting qualified student-athletes,
  • coaching,
  • conducting and supervising regular practice sessions and contests,
  • assisting with the coordination of all team travel and assisting in driving a passenger van for away team travel,
  • acting as a mentor for student-athlete personal development,
  • assisting in the coordination of team fundraising and community services events, and
  • performs related duties as required.

The Assistant Coach is responsible for compliance with Title IX, NCAA, Skyline Conference and SUNY Old Westbury rules and regulations.  The successful candidate should have experience with multicultural student body populations.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and basketball coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, club or travel level required with demonstrated success.  Must have and maintain the appropriate valid NYS driver's license and have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.  The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and must have a commitment to student-athlete academic success and well-being. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid and CPR certifications are desired. 
  • Experience with multicultural student body populations.

 


Additional Information:

Salary:  $4,000.00 for the period of the appointment
