Dean College's School of Liberal Arts is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Corrections during the Fall 2025 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.

We are seeking an adjunct instructor for CRM 313: Corrections. CRM-313 is a 3-credit class that meets for 2.5 hours/week.  The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The criminal justice program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.

The course description is as follows: Corrections are an integral part of the criminal justice system and process. Together with prisons and jails, community corrections ? probation, parole, and intermediate sanctions such as day reporting, electronic monitoring, and drug and other specialty court programs ? perform a critically important role in crime control and public safety. Using lectures, class discussions, and problem-based projects, students will examine the current challenges of corrections, as well as the sentencing policies most likely to yield the greatest gains in public safety, cost-effectiveness, offender rehabilitation, community reentry and reduced recidivism. Throughout the semester, students will conduct mock hearings to understand the roles of the prosecutor, defense attorney, probation officer, and judge in sentencing criminal offenders. Prerequisites: CRM 110 and junior or senior standing. Offered every fall semester.
