Franklin, MA United StatesDean College's School of Liberal Arts is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Expressive Arts Therapies during the Fall 2025 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.
We are seeking an adjunct instructor for PSY-342: Expressive Arts Therapies. PSY-342 is a 3-credit class that meets for 2.5 hours/week. The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The psychology program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.
The course description is as follows: In this course, by participating in applied activities, students will examine how multiple expressive arts modalities, including art, dance/movement, drama, music, and writing, are incorporated into therapeutic practice. Students will also have the opportunity to identify and differentiate between the philosophies and theories that form the foundation of expressive arts therapies. This course emphasizes hands-on learning through experiential coursework that fosters creativity and self-expression. Prerequisites: PSY 111 and junior or senior standing. Offered on an as-needed basis.
There is one PSY-399 section available. It is scheduled to meet Tuesday 5:00pm-7:50pm. This course is being taught at the honors level.
Preparation, Training and Experience:
- Master's degree in psychology or a related field is required; PhD in a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience teaching at the college level in person is required; experience teaching junior and senior undergraduates is preferred.
- Strong computer skills is required.
- Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required.
- Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required.
- Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media is required.
- Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required.
- Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles, required.
