Job Description
The Office of Advocacy and Education is responsible for educational opportunities and prevention initiatives around gender-based violence, consent, alcohol and other drugs, hazing, sexual health, general wellness and more. The Education and Outreach Coordinator position is responsible for the creating, developing, and facilitating of these trainings and workshops for campus members to learn more about these areas as well as social norm campaigns to bring awareness to these topics.
Specific collaborative duties of this role include:
- Coordinates and facilitates Office of Advocacy and Education (OAE) outreach events and group presentations.
- Assists in the preparation of content for topics such as consent education, sexual health education, gender- based violence prevention, alcohol and other drug consumption, and overall health and wellness.
- Develops and measures student learning outcomes for OAE trainings and workshops. Reviews, updates, and corrects organizational data.
- Performs general website maintenance and updates. Tracks data and activities.
- Promotes OAE through print and electronic advertising and marketing, including social media management.
- Uploads data from various sources.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates Peer Educators
- Serve as an After-Hours Coordinator & Advocate for OU Advocates, OU's 24/7 confidential advocacy service for students, faculty, & staff experiencing sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and/or gender-based harassment.
- Defines and develops key performance indicators and assessment activities.
- Tracks data and activities.
- Answers questions via phone, email and in person.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.
Job Requirements
Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:
6 months experience in early childhood, elementary, or professional programs.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 54 months of related experience.
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
- Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
- Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
Certifications:
- CHES or CPH preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Communicate effectively. Ability to engage in repetitive motions. May lift up to 40 lbs.
- Standard office environment. Periodic outside events exposed to weather conditions.
Department Preferences:
- 12 months in health promotion, prevention services, and/or higher education.
