Lincoln, NE United StatesUnder the supervision of the Vice-President/Athletic Director, the Student Activities Coordinator manages/administers the Student Activity program and services. This full-time regular position provides leadership for wellness and various part-time staff, including student employees, various officials, and scorekeepers for intramurals. This position will prepare quarterly activity calendars, student publications, and coordinate the activity program, which includes educational, developmental, social, and recreational activities. They will oversee the formation and general management of student organizations. This position will help facilitate the Lincoln Campus student government (Student Senate). They will assist Student Services and the larger college with assigned activities such as Admissions, tours, orientation, etc.
This position also assumes the Men’s Basketball coach title for SCC, which involves recruiting, training, and coaching the intercollegiate team for the college.
Essential Functions
Supervisory Tasks
- Administer and oversee Student Activity Operations and Areas/Events.
- Provides leadership for staff assigned to the student activities.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates staff assigned to the student activity unit.
- Supervises assigned areas, which include the Student Center, gym, and wellness center.
- Formulates, coordinates, and implements student activity programs and events which support campus and division goals and objectives.
Head Men’s Basketball Coach:
- Recruit potential students to participate in the intercollegiate college team.
- Supervise practices and strength training.
- Coach the intercollegiate Men’s team.
Program Planning, Improvement, and Evaluation
- Works with the asst. athletic director to plan student activities during athletic contests.
- Develops programs and services intended to improve student activity operations.
- In collaboration with Institutional Research, provides formative and summative evaluation of programs and services, and implementation of strategies for improvement of programs and services.
- Prepares summary reports of all student activities and programs.
Organizes, promotes, and supervises the intramural program.
- Recruits participants, schedules events, monitors participation, keeps records, orders, and maintains equipment and supplies assigned to the intramural program, including a quarterly inventory of all supplies and equipment.
Serve as Staff Advisor to Student Groups and Organizations:
- Attend all committee meetings and serve as staff advisor for the Student Senate Wellness Committee.
- Assist the committee with planning and programming wellness and fitness activities.
- Participates in Student Services Leadership Team. Serves as team leader and member of the Student Services unit supervisor team.
Budget
- Maintains and Processes the Student Activity Budget
- Coordinates the development of a budget for the student activities programs.
- Maintain and monitor expenditures and revenues of the budget.
- Purchase equipment and supplies necessary to support the student activities program.
Supervise Assigned Areas/Events
- Supervises student workers who check non-athlete students in and out of the weight room and gym. (Athletes are supervised by their coaches)
- Provides basic instruction on the correct use of exercise equipment through signage and consultation with students.
Provides Basic First Aid
- Provide first aid and request emergency services when appropriate.
Manages Student Social and Recreational Activities
- Organize, promote, and supervise all student social and recreational activities.
- Negotiate contracts for performers and off-campus facilities, advertise, and promote activities/events, and supervise events.
- Provide support and coordination for the development of campus student organizations.
Communicate Students’ Goals and Objectives
- Schedule Activities and Events, and Operational Procedures
- Develop guidelines and promotional materials that communicate the programs, events, services, and operations of the student activities program.
Create and Develop the Weekly Production and Distribution of Student and Staff Publications
- Solicit and receive news items for campus publications.
- Edits and prepares copy for printing and distribution to divisions and students.
Admissions and Recruiting
- The Student Activities Coordinator will assist in admissions and recruiting functions, including working with high school counselors, visiting high schools, planning and conducting programs/activities, conducting student orientation, and speaking to civic groups regarding college programs and activities.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two (2) years of administrative experience in student activities. A master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required work experience.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience.
Salary
$48,110 per year
Benefits
SCC BEN Dollars – Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee’s paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).
Schedule
Normal work hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40-hour workweek, based on a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
