Providence, RI United StatesRhode Island College is inviting applicants for the position of Counseling Center Clinician. This is a full-time, calendar year, continuing position.
The full-Time Counseling Center Clinician will provide high quality, professional, and confidential individual and group counseling services to students utilizing the Counseling Center at Rhode Island College. They serve the Counseling Center by providing necessary clinical coverage, including emergency sessions. The Clinician will provide supervision hours through individual and group supervision to unlicensed clinical interns. They will also provide outreach programming (including suicide prevention), as requested by the Director.
The full-Time Counseling Center Clinician will contribute to the mission of supporting the RIC student body in fully developing their intellectual, emotional, and social potential, while helping to reduce distress, promote emotional wellness, enhance life satisfaction, and improve overall well-being is supported by this position.
Required qualifications:
- Previous clinical experience working with university and college students is required
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations; especially varied racial and ethnic groups.
Standards for LICENSED INDEPENDENT CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER:
- Completion of Master’s Degree in Social Work from a recognized and accredited institution and Licensed in Rhode Island as an LICSW
- Active license to practice Clinical Social Work Independently (LICSW) in the state of Rhode Island
Standards for LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR:
- Completion of Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from a recognized and accredited institution and Licensed in Rhode Island as an LMHC
- Active license to practice Mental Health Counseling (LMHC) in the state of Rhode Island
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in a counseling center setting or demonstrated counseling experience.
- Experience in training and supervising student trainees.
Experience in providing assessment and treatment for one or more of the following:
- Sexual Assault and Trauma
- Substance Abuse
- Eating Disorders
- Learning Disabilities and ADHD
- Suicide Prevention
- Issues of Oppression and Social Justice
- Students with Personality Disorders
- BIPOC strongly encouraged to apply.
- Bilingual in English / Spanish highly desirable (fluent in speaking / writing).

Proposed starting salary: $80,000-$82,000
