Lincoln, NE United StatesUnder the general direction and supervision of the Superintendent, Physical Plant, the Maintenance Worker II – Carpenter position is a maintenance team staff member with responsibilities for a variety of general maintenance areas and specialized capabilities related to supporting Campus Carpentry and Construction projects. This full-time regular position will be responsible for all campus plant operations.
Essential Functions
Maintain Interior and Exterior components of the Buildings.
- Construction of cabinets, furniture, walls, and countertops. Install glass, floors, cabinets, countertops, doors, bulletin boards, and similar items.
- Repair and install doors, door locks, maintain key inventory to include cutting keys, repairing and installing door cylinders, also the ability to pick locks as necessary.
- Repair walls, tables, chairs, and cabinets, welding repairs if needed.
Assist in Materials Management
- Determine materials needed for specific projects, calculate costs, order materials, and keep records of the project materials and costs.
- Keep track of inventory, order and receive carpentry tools as needed, and be able to use all tools pertaining to general carpentry, along with performing routine maintenance of these tools.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED with vocational training or on-the-job training.
- Minimum of five (5) years work experience in the Carpentry field OR, a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience in combination with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Building Construction or a directly affiliated field of study.
- Current and valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to qualify for auto insurance coverage
Salary
$22.75 per hour
Benefits
SCC BEN Dollars – Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee’s paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).
Schedule
Normal working hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40-hour work week, based on a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek. Requires being on-call at all times to assist with projects and snow removal, requiring some Saturday, Sunday, and Holiday work hours
