Josh Kaput
attends Grand Valley State University as a Film and Video major.
While some artists are inspired by pictures and world events, Josh
draws influence from his friends and all their wacky misadventures
around campus.
Elizabeth Gearhart
draws illustrations and a comic strip called
'Sconeborough' for The Current, the University of Missouri St. Louis's
newspaper. She likes cats and watching cartoons.
Michael O'Brien
draws the daily strip "Chasing Sheep off Tall Buildings" for
the University of Maryland's student paper the Diamondback. His pick
up line at parties is: "Hi, I draw the comic strip in the
Diamondback." Mike often finds himself alone in bed at the end of the
night. Visit his website www.chasingsheepofftallbuildings.com to find out more.
Leonid Pilchin
is very much into Japanese comics and animation.
"It's so beautiful and expressive. I wish I had more time to explore the wonderful world
of comics, but school takes a lot of work and concentration." He is thankful for fun distractions like this contest that encourage him
to embrace that world that he loves so much."
Jennifer Victor
currently draws a comic entitled "Rambling Id" for
the Daily Cardinal, an on-campus newspaper. She didn't get serious
about drawing until junior high and beyond, when she started to
doodle non-stop in her notebooks. Since wanting to learn more about
comics, she reads them all the time.
