The Inspector conducts, supervises, and manages investigations of campus-related criminal
misconduct and/or violations of campus policy. Responsibilities include the oversight of complete, accurate, and thorough investigations that occur utilizing current technology, recognized best practices, proper evidence collection, analysis, security, storage, and disposal, to ensure case integrity and victim resources are available and provided appropriately. In
addition, the Inspector assists with records management, reporting and recording systems, department technology, training, and Clery compliance. Also included is assisting University Police administration to identify crime trends or crime-sensitive locations through data analysis. The Inspector serves as a liaison with law enforcement partners, the Title IX Coordinator and District Attorney’s Office. The effective supervision of department members in regards to
investigations, community policing, crime prevention, specialized units, and/or in emergency situations is also expected. The Inspector also performs specialized assignments as directed by the Chief of Police to fulfill the mission of the department. In the absence of the Chief, the Inspector serves as the highest-ranking member of the department and is responsible for the overall operations of the department.
The University Police Department (UPD) provides law enforcement services to protect the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the university.
