About the University of Oklahoma

Created by the Oklahoma Territorial Legislature in 1890, the University of Oklahoma (OU) is a doctoral degree-granting research university serving the educational, cultural, economic, and health-care needs of the state, region, and nation. OU consists of three campus locations in Oklahoma as well as several centers abroad. The Norman campus serves as home to all of the university’s academic programs except health-related fields. OU enrolls almost 32,000 students, has more than 2,800 full-time faculty members, and has 21 colleges offering 172 majors at the baccalaureate level, 156 majors at the master’s level, 81 doctoral-level majors and 54 graduate certificates.

Student Union Assistant Director

Pay Range: Targeted salary $60,400 annually, based on experience

Benefits Eligible: Yes

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (may include some weekends)

Travel: May be required

 

Position Introduction:

The Oklahoma Memorial Union (OMU) at the University of Oklahoma serves as a vibrant hub for campus life, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and visitors through dynamic programs, events, and services. We are seeking a highly organized and strategic leader to join our team as the Assistant Director of the Oklahoma Memorial Union. This role provides a unique opportunity to shape the University's centralized scheduling system, oversee large-scale event operations, and lead innovative initiatives that enhance the campus experience across multiple locations. Reporting to the Director of the OMU, the Assistant Director plays a critical leadership role in managing scheduling systems, advancing operational efficiencies, and supervising both professional and student staff. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver with strong technical and operational expertise, and a high level of technical proficiency in utilizing and adapting to technology systems that support centralized scheduling, event operations, and process improvement, capable of balancing complex logistics while driving continuous improvement. This position is well-suited for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and is passionate about supporting student engagement and institutional success.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in higher education administration, business administration, hospitality management, or a related field.
  • 6 years of experience in event operations, campus scheduling, student union administration, facilities management, or related.

 

Department Preferences:

  • 12 months systems management experience.
