Franklin, MA United StatesDean College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, a 10-month, full-time faculty position. The School of Liberal Arts and Sciences is looking for an accomplished educator with experience teaching criminal justice coursework who focuses on experiential learning and active engagement in their classroom. This person will collaborate with the program coordinator and other full-time and adjunct faculty in the program to provide students with the needed background, knowledge and rich experiences that prepares them for work in various industry settings or in graduate school.
All Dean College academic programs are grounded in the liberal arts, stress experiential learning, and seek to develop a career mindset, with the Dean Career Advantage (DCA), in its students to prepare them for life after Dean.

Expected salary range: $69,000-$72,000 when annualized, commensurate with experience. The College also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and generous paid time off.
Position responsibilities include:
- Teach 15 contact hours/semester; 5:5 teaching load.
- The ability and willingness to teach across a wide variety of criminal justice courses, from the introductory course to upper-division requirements.
- Develop curriculum grounded in best practices and assess the results of program initiatives.
- Coach and mentor students regarding academic and career goals including graduate school preparation.
- Participate in committees as assigned, attend school and program meetings.
- Participate in recruitment activities and student orientations.
- Hold office hours as required and meet with students by appointment.
- Engage with the school and college community.
- There is no faculty advising load. Students are served by a professional advising staff.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Preparation, Training, and Experience:
- Master's degree in criminal justice or related discipline is required; A PhD (terminal degree) in Criminal Justice or related discipline is desired. The area of specialization is open within criminology and criminal justice.
- Undergraduate teaching experience, including leading students in class projects and practical applications, is required.
- Experience with online teaching is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with program development, management, and assessment.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and innovative classroom pedagogy.
- Demonstrated success teaching a diverse population of undergraduates at varying stages of academic readiness.
- Experience with course management systems (i.e. Canvas), digital technology, Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Teams, Word, PowerPoint) and classroom media such as digital whiteboards is desired.
