Franklin, MA United StatesThe Performing Arts Athletic Trainer in the Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance and the School of the Arts is responsible for developing, coordinating, and administering a comprehensive performing arts athletic training program that supports the health, wellness, and performance of students. This role provides injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, emergency care, and educational programming for students participating in dance, theatre, and other performing arts disciplines. Working under the supervision of a licensed physician, the Athletic Trainer collaborates closely with faculty, academic advisors, Health Services, and the Counseling Center to promote student well-being and ensure safe participation in classes, rehearsals, and performances. The position also oversees the daily operations of the Performing Arts Athletic Training facility, including staffing, budgeting, inventory management, compliance with professional standards and documentation requirements, and the continued growth and enhancement of the program.
Salary range: $65,000-$75,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The College offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and generous paid time off. This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position.
Position responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive performing arts athletic training program, including injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, rehabilitation, educational programming, and referrals to counseling.
- Provide athletic training services to students, non-matriculated students, and those in pre-collegiate activities, including on-site coverage during rehearsals and performances.
- In coordination with the Dean of the Schools of Performing Arts, adjust facility hours or part-time staff hours as needed during performance weeks.
- Work under the medical supervision of a licensed physician in accordance with medical service agreements, and refer students to outside medical providers for care beyond the scope of athletic training practice.
- Coordinate athletic training evaluations and ongoing care plans while maintaining regular communication with academic advisors, Dean College Health Services and Counseling Services, faculty, and other appropriate stakeholders regarding student health status and readiness to participate in classes, rehearsals, and performances.
- Oversee the daily operations of the Performing Arts Athletic Training facility, including scheduling, staffing, and supervision of work-study students, interns, and clinical education students.
- Supervise part-time staff, interns, work-study students, and clinical education students, including recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Assess emerging best practices, techniques, and equipment to enhance the effectiveness of the athletic training program. Provide injury prevention consultation and educational support to performing arts faculty, as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation within the College's designated electronic health record system, ensuring compliance with Dean College policies, Massachusetts state and federal confidentiality requirements, and the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Code of Professional Practice.

Preparation, Training, and Experience:
- Master's degree in a related field, required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of performing arts professional experience, required.
- Board of Certification (BOC) certification and active Massachusetts state athletic training licensur required.
- Meets continuing education requirements as established by the NATA and BOC, including current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster an engaging, innovative, and collaborative workplace culture.
- Demonstrate skills in interacting effectively with students, staff, faculty, physicians, and others.
- Must be available to work nights and weekends.
