Dean College's School of Liberal Arts and Sciences is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Introduction to Criminal Justice during the Fall 2026 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.

We are seeking an adjunct instructor for CRM-110: Introduction to Criminal Justice. CRM-110 is a 3-credit class that meets in-person for 2.5 hours/week.  The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The criminal justice program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.

The course description is as follows: This course provides a general introduction to the criminal justice system, including the historical development, fundamental principles, and legal framework of the criminal justice system in the United States and around the world. It examines the various components of the criminal justice system, including law enforcement, courts, corrections and advocacy, assessing their effectiveness in promoting public safety and ensuring justice. Offered every semester.

There is one in-person CRM-110 section available. It is scheduled to meet Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:00am-9:50am.

Preparation, Training, and Experience:

  • Master's degree in criminal justice or a related field is required; PhD in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the college level in person is required; experience junior and senior undergraduates is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required.
  • Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media is required.
  • Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required.
  • Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles, required.
