Old Westbury, NY United StatesThe SUNY Old Westbury Library seeks to hire a Circulation Supervisor to work part-time evening and weekend hours during the academic year (late August through May). This part-time position will report to the Library Director.
The Circulation Supervisor is responsible for supervising all Circulation Desk operations during assigned hours.
Duties:
- Oversee circulation services and desk operations during evening and weekend hours.
- Assists with shelving and stacks management.
- Assists with Reserves and Circulation during assigned evening and weekend hours.
- Supervise student workers.
- Help coordinate service schedules to maximize the use of student workers.
- Assist in planning and implementation of ongoing training of student workers.
- Assist with workflows as needed, including reserves processing, Interlibrary Loan processing, retrieval, shelving, and resolving service issues.
- Assist with quality control of services, workflows, and efficiency in Circulation.
- Provide advanced-level assistance on patron account issues as needed.
- Collaborate with the Library Dean on service coverage, process improvements, workflow analysis, and service improvements.
- Assist with data collection and assessment.
- The Library Director will assign other duties as needed.

Work Schedule: total of 15 hours per week
Availability on the following days/times:
Sunday: 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Monday: 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Tuesday: 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm Wednesday: 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Thursday: 6:00 pm -11:00 pm
Note: Holiday schedule will change and may include earlier or later shift and one weekend day off. Additional hours may be possible throughout the year.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of an Associate degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One (1) year of related customer service or library experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience, preferably in a public services or customer service environment.
- Library Circulation Desk experience.
- Experience working with automated library computer systems.
