Job Description:

The adjunct position is responsible for leading and guiding small group discussion in case-based scenarios and problem-based learning. The goal is to help students be able to reason clinically without bias, understand when to perform comprehensive vs focused history and physical exams, and orally present the case in an organized manner.  The adjunct will create a supportive and inclusive environment where participants can engage in meaningful dialogue, collaborative problem-solving, and skill-building exercises.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job duties specific to this position:

  • Facilitate case-based scenarios and problem-based learning.
  • Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with students and other facilitators.
  • Assess a of students' ability to document a patient encounter.
  • Assess a students' ability to orally present the case in a cohesive and succinct manner.
  • Tailor content and approach to meet the needs, interests, and skill levels of participants.
  • Guide group dynamics effectively, managing time, maintaining focus, and addressing conflicts or disruptions as needed.
  • Provide guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback to support individual and group growth.
  • Offer resources, tools, and strategies to help participants achieve their goals, overcome challenges, and enhance their skills.
  • Foster a supportive learning environment where participants feel empowered to take risks, share insights, and learn from each other's experiences.
  • Stay informed about best practices, trends, and developments in facilitation, group dynamics, and related fields through professional development opportunities, networking, and ongoing learning.

Requirements:

  • A master's degree or higher in the relevant field from an accredited institution
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject matter and a commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse academic environment and foster a supportive learning community.
  • Willingness to adhere to professional standards and uphold the mission and values of the institution.

Pay Range: $1,084 to $1,435 per credit hour
