Adjunct Instructor - American Sign Language

The Department of Modern Languages at SUNY Old Westbury regularly seeks to hire adjunct instructors to teach courses as needed.

Currently, we are seeking an adjunct to teach the following undergraduate level course in the Fall 2024 semester that runs from August 26, 2024 through December 18, 2024.

ML 1150 -  American Sign Language I

Thursday 2:40pm - 4:20pm  In person,  Tuesday will be ONLINE

An introduction to American Sign Language, the natural language of the deaf community in the United States and Canada. Focuses on conversations in sign, basic rules of grammar and aspects of the deaf community.

 


Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Education, Special Education, Social Work or equivalent degree in a related field.
  • Ability to teach Sign Language.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Professional experience working with hearing impaired.
  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Transliteration experience.
