The Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life provides general leadership for the Fraternity and Sorority Life system. This position is the primary advisor to the University’s Fraternity and Sorority Life system, including the Panhellenic Council, the Interfraternity Council, and the National Pan-Hellenic Council. The Coordinator is a professional staff member in the Enrollment Management and Student Success division.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight, supervision, mentoring, advisement, and support to Fraternity and Sorority chapters, governing/coordinating Greek Councils, their officers, and initiatives
- Oversight for the coordination and advising of fraternity and sorority primary and informal recruitment processes.
- Develop, implement, and assess education and leadership development programs (i.e., officer training, officer transitions, PNM orientation, new member education, risk management, etc.).
- Support and apply University and departmental policies and procedures pertaining to registered fraternity and sorority chapters and help educate student leaders ensuring they follow recruitment, events, and fundraising processes.
- Promote the value of fraternity and sorority life to prospective and current students through materials, special events, website, and social media.
- Prepare, submit, and distribute reports and assessments detailing the fraternity and sorority community grade point average, recruitment, membership statistics, and community standards.
- Serve as a liaison and provide regular and ongoing communication to national headquarters, volunteer chapter advisors, including communications with chapter consultants.
- Coordinate and ensure ongoing trainings for individual chapters and governing councils, including but not limited to hazing, Title IX, alcohol, and substance abuse, etc.
- Select, train, and supervise the Fraternity and Sorority Life student graduate assistant.
- Oversee the Fraternity and Sorority Life budget and council checking accounts.
- Serve on University and division committees as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. A master’s degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience with Fraternity and Sorority Life. Experience working with governing councils is a plus.
- Experience working with college students.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Experience in planning and presenting programs for large events and leadership training for students.
- Demonstrated managerial skills, including the ability to supervise students and effectively organize and direct personnel during a major campus event or program.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to customer service.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and represent the college effectively and appropriately in interactions with internal and external constituents.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office or other computer programs. Experience with housing management or data management software is a plus.
- Willingness to participate in professional development to keep up-to-date with technology and changes in the regulatory environment of higher education.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evening and weekend work.
