This is a full-time temporary two-year appointment with the possibility to renew. It includes benefits and residential on-campus housing.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Residence Life, the Coordinator for the Residential Experience plays a key role in offering comprehensive support to over 5,400 resident students by overseeing the design and implementation of strategic engagement initiatives to advance the holistic development of students and to build welcoming, inclusive communities. Using a collaborative approach to leadership, the Coordinator develops comprehensive training programs for student and professional staff and implements outreach initiatives to foster student engagement and well-being.  As a model of professionalism and integrity, the Coordinator contributes to a strong, interconnected campus culture and elevates the residential experience for all students.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, collaboration, organizational, problem-solving, and strategic engagement skills; adaptability in a dynamic work environment; experience working with diverse college student populations; and a genuine commitment to student success.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Develop and implement a robust marketing plan to attract diverse, qualified candidates 
  • Lead the recruitment, selection, and training of paraprofessionals including the Resident Assistants, Summer Resident Assistants, and Graduate and Head Resident Assistants
  • Coordinate, implement and assess paraprofessional training including monthly in-services, new staff orientation, fall and winter training
  • Assist in the design of a curriculum for Residence Life and Housing program that aligns with institutional and departmental goals
  • Oversee and support implementation of the curriculum including co-curricular and community building programs
  • Lead department assessment efforts to promote outcomes and propose process improvements
  • Plan and implement student staff appreciation and recognition efforts 
  • Collaborate with campus partners to coordinate outreach initiatives focusing on engagement and well-being within the residential community
  • Support the Residence Hall Coordinators and Graduate Hall Coordinators to manage student caseloads, escalated roommate conflicts, students of concern, and conduct related issues 
  • Serve as a University Hearing Officer for conduct meetings and misconduct cases
  • Manage social media accounts including content creation, event promotion and follower engagement
  • Maintain paraprofessional staff manuals, protocols, and other RLH documents
  • Serve in the on-call rotation including weekends and holidays
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field
  • 2 years of professional experience in Residence Life, Housing, or a related student affairs role
  • Availability to work evening and weekend shifts
  • Availability to participate in on-call duty rotation and to arrive at campus as required in emergency situations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in Residence Life, particularly in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, and assessment to inform decision-making and strategic planning
  • Demonstrated experience in the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of student staff, particularly Resident Assistants
  • Experience in implementing co-curricular programming aligned with a Residential Curriculum or student engagement model
  • Experience serving as a University Hearing Officer or familiarity with student conduct processes

Special Instructions

Salary and benefits are dictated by the State College and University Professional Association (SCUPA) Collective Bargaining Agreement. This is a full-time temporary two-year appointment with the possibility to renew. It includes benefits and residential on-campus housing.
