POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Dean for Graduate Success is responsible for the leadership, management, and implementation of the student support team. The assistant dean is responsible for providing high quality evidenced based support services to all graduate students. The assistant dean coordinates the team’s efforts to provide support related to assessment, planning, resource coordination, evaluation, and advocacy of graduate student issues.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position:
- Provide academic and non-academic support, advising, and mentoring to graduate students in accordance with Le Moyne College policy.
- Define, publish, and consistently apply and make readily available to students upon admission the policies and procedures for student support
- Maintain student academic records, which must be readily accessible to authorized personnel regarding student efforts and outcomes
- Monitor and document student progress in a timely and efficient manner according to its defined and published policies and procedures; to identify and address any deficiencies in meeting standards as a graduate student enrolled at Le Moyne College.
- Lead in on-going program assessment, analysis of faculty and student feedback, student progression/attrition data, exit data, and stakeholder’s data; in the efforts of continuous quality improvement
- Collect and analyze student data to identify markers for early student identification and maintain accurate, organized and detailed records and reports of student data
- Collect, record, and track student data summaries and report out to the appropriate departments, Dean’s, and administrators as needed
- Responsible for semi-annual reporting on graduate student retention and graduation rates
- Coordinate student caseload, including meetings, documentation, follow-up, and feedback for all students
- Assist students to identify and overcome barriers to achievement, and provide continuous communication and follow-up to monitor progress
- Overcome and provide evidenced based support recommendations to students who require academic support, which may include students who are on academic probation, students who received multiple midterm deficiencies, and/or students who were referred to The Graduate & Professional Student Success Network.
- Schedule and conduct workshops and presentations for faculty/staff and students, as requested or determined by self-analysis or surveys, to support key competencies and standards
- Develop marketing materials to help members of the College community and external constituencies understand the mission and purpose of The Graduate & Professional Student Success Network.
- Educate the faculty and staff regarding the process of referral of students and confidentiality standards
- Serve on the Graduate student success committee
- Provide support to students on matters related to mental and physical health, time management, leave of absence/reengagement that impact their success in the program
- Provide a student-centered approach to problem solving
- Be creative, innovative and possess the ability to work independently and within a team
- Work collaboratively in a student-centered environment supporting a broad and diverse student body of students
- Maintain exceptional interpersonal, communication, planning, reasoning, organizational, and project management skills, with an ability to multi talk in a fast-paced environment

QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experiences in education, higher education, student affairs or a closely related field
- Experience in teaching or academic advising or student success services in higher education
- Experience working with graduate and professional students is preferred
- Applied knowledge of student development theory and student affairs trends related to student support and advocacy services in higher education
- Demonstrated experience working with college student case management processes; including intake and triage, tailored care plans, resource referrals, and trauma informed care
- Experience working with crisis response processes, including serving on call, responding to crisis situations, and participating in training initiatives
- Experience building collaborative partnerships with faculty, administrators, students, parents/families, community partners, and alumni
- Familiarity with higher education legal issues, including Clery, FERPA, and HIPPA
- Experience with student databases, crms, and learning systems
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing others within the organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work professionally and ethically within a multicultural setting, including the ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of persons, documents, data, and communications
