This professional will join the College’s Advancement Team at a critical juncture Manhattanville’s growth as the institution welcomes its 15th President, Dr. Frank Sánchez and enters its second year of a new 5-year Strategic Plan.
Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA), the Director of Annual Giving is responsible for the management of a comprehensive annual giving program. In partnership with the VPIA, the Director provides strategic direction for solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, social media, personal visitation, and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support. The Director will also collaborate with other members of the Advancement team to engage alumni in meaningful ways to advance the goals of the College, including personal solicitations.
Institutional Advancement Program:
Manhattanville College’s Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) designs and executes robust, multi-channel fundraising. This includes events, email, direct mail, social media campaigns as well as major donor solicitation and stewardship, planned giving, and grant seeking. Team members collaborate with partners across the College and outside Manhattanville.
The OIA team currently consists of 5 members and is led by Sarah Kelly, Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Teamwork is valued and there is an open, collaborative environment where team members engage with one another, are supported, and recognized for their contributions and impact.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recommend annual giving goals based on historical performance and alumni pool opportunity and build strategic and tactical plans for achieving these goals.
- Develop cases for support that effectively articulate the need for and use of gifts.
- Work with the communications team to maintain consistent College messaging and branding and implement effective multichannel communication strategies that reinforce giving to the annual fund.
- Create a solicitation plan for various constituent segments including, but not limited to, athletics, recent graduates, student families, alumni, reunion gifts, long-term donors, and those identified as having potential for the greatest growth.
- Oversee all annual giving programs, including Valiant Challenge ( an annual campaign for Manhattanville’s athletics teams), Giving Tuesday, and Mville Gives (Manhattanville’s annual one day campaign).
- Develop, execute, and manage a donor stewardship program that recognizes various levels and specific types of annual giving.
- Work closely with Advancement Services to ensure the accuracy of annual giving data entry, gift processing, and provide comprehensive reporting and analysis for all annual giving programs.
- Create and produce all annual fund mail solicitation pieces and supporting materials.
- Work with the Alumni Office to create an experience that increases understanding of why giving is important and transitions prospects from students to engaged, loyal alumni.
- Steward the Leadership Circle, developing special communications, invitations, and receptions that encourage increased giving.
- Manage a prospect pool with annual goals for personal contact and giving outcomes.
- Personally solicit annual gifts of $5,000 to $25,000.
Experience and Qualities Sought:
- 3-5 years of prior fundraising experience, with experience in higher education preferred but not required.
- A high degree of integrity and commitment to ethical fundraising standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience creating and executing a comprehensive annual giving program.
- Ability to work effectively with a cross section of stakeholders within and outside Manhattanville.
- Strategic thinking that is rooted in finding positive responses to challenges.
- Superior verbal/written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- A commitment to the College’s goals of developing a community where diversity is embraced, inclusiveness is practiced, and equity is intentionally sought.
Salary:
Depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, the annual salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000.

Hybrid Position:
Manhattanville College has a remote work program that provides two days of remote work per week. This position is eligible for remote work.
