Responsibilities

The HR Generalist and Compensation Analyst provides confidential, comprehensive and direct operational, analytical, administrative, project, and coordinative support to the Director of Employee Compensation and Workforce Planning, the Chief Officer of Human Resources, and to the Human Resources Department. This incumbent also provides level Tier I HR and Tier II subject matter expert, operations, and HR generalist support to staff, faculty, student employees, supervisors, and managers, in line with the incumbent's professional growth and development in the HR professional field, including knowledge, skills & abilities. The role has a core compensation related focus in addition to general HR operational, administrative, project and coordinative work for the HR department and its customers.

1. Support to Director of Compensation and Workforce Planning: Provides direct administrative, analytical, project, and program development and implementation service delivery support and assistance for compensation and other general HR related analysis and employee relations related issues. Examples may include conducting compensation analysis, assessment of job descriptions, staff pay grades, Internal/External Equity Review analysis, prepare reports, some collaboration/assistance with general counsel, special projects relating to procedures, workflow, and tools development, HR service delivery, program implementation & administration. Performs project manager role for the staff annual increase planning and implementation project. These duties require a high level of confidentiality and involve conducting market salary surveys, reporting for AICCU and CUPA-HR surveys (and any ad hoc survey participation requests in collaboration with other Institutions), communicating with staff at management/director levels, analyzing statistical data, drafting and processing Pans, stipends, employee notification letters, creating & maintaining activity logs, records management of compensation related documents, process supervisor changes in Datatel, and developing and revision of informer and Datatel, system data reports on the workforce, etc.

2. HR Generalist Duties: In collaboration and at the direction of the Director of Compensation and Workforce Planning. Assist in collaboration and administrative tasks of departmental and college-related projects (benchmarking, HR analytics, etc). Assist in development and implementation of workforce planning processes and communicate to various departments. Examples may include developing reports, draft electronic communications, outline process flowcharts, ensure the organization of committee meetings, implementing website content through Salli, and other duties as directed.

Work with respective HR directors when assigned to provide support to the Department and College. Develops knowledge and capability on the successful use of NeoGov, faculty contracts, Footprints, Datatel/Colleague-Informer reporting, background checks, I-9's, W-4's, online benefits, etc.

This role will be responsible for a working knowledge of these HR functions and develop a broad generalist understanding of HR operations and its impact on staff, climate/culture, and engagement.

Professional Development: Attends workshops and meetings on and offsite, for professional development and growth, coordinates and participates in campus events; pursues on-the-job development plans and actions mutually developed with the supervisor. Responsible for disseminating workshop content to HR staff as needed.

3. Support to AVP-Chief HR Officer: provide daily administrative and calendar/logistical support to the AVP-HR. Arrange reservations of facilities and determine room layout, food and beverage accommodations for selected HR and campus committees/councils, send invitations and notifications to HR and/or campus committee/council members, ensure correct content on related meeting signage and materials, Arrange travel and lodging accommodations for special events, provide confidential printing, copying, faxing of documents and records, etc. Frontline responder to customer correspondence and requests at Tier I service level (ie scheduling, messages, complaints, vendors, etc.)

4. Front Office Support: Provide responsive "Front Office" customer service support to Faculty, Staff, and Students seeking help from HR. Oversee coverage of main telephone line and front office reception window, ensure visitors are greeted by front office staff/students in a warm, receptive and professional manner. Ensure referral of questions to appropriate HR representatives or Directors. Coordinate front office communication and collaboration within and with the rest of the department around resources, requests, projects, transactions, etc. Initial recorder and processor of requests related to compensation, employee relations, and workforce planning. Provides a wide range of customer support resolving technical, individual or operational requests. Also responsible for customer/client interface on routine benefits, recruitment, and student employment processing questions/inquiries. Provides back up front office support for HR Benefits Specialist and Professional Development Coordinator.

5. HR Office Management: Ensure data tracking & collection, and perform general administrative and organizational support related to personnel files and other documents, confidential faxes, compliance logs, etc. Ensure HR Office is effectively and efficiently organized operationally with respect to file systems, printers, copiers, office supplies, billing matters and budget for the Department in collaboration with the AVP-Chief HR Officer. Calendar management and scheduling of meetings. Manage HR Conference Room usage. Coordinate and manage workflow and processing of Department contracts and agreements among HR AVP, independent contractors, and vendors. Manage and monitor invoicing through ImageNow automated system. Collaborate with the HR Compliance Manager in ensuring the organization, retention, and purge of HR employment records. Prepare reports as required.

6. Database Proficiency: Demonstrate knowledge and use of Compensation and HR database and processing systems including Salli, Kenexa/Salary.com CompAnalyst, Datetel/Colleague, reporting with Informer, word, excel, and powerpoint. Implements a variety of research activities using the worldwide web, i.e. job description/competency development, etc. in supporting compensation analysis, recommendations, decisions, and processes. Participates in the analyses of new and existing positions related to duties, skills, efforts, required experience, knowledge and other related factors.

 

Experience and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

REQUIRED: BA/BS and or equivalent training and related experience PREFERRED: BA in Human Resources

Experience: (years required and applicable field of experience): 3-5 years direct and/or related experience, preferably in a Human Resources department environment.

Skills/Abilities: (e.g. computer skills, written & verbal skills, trades, laws, procedures, technical) Experience working with an HRIS system/database, Miscrosoft Word and Excel; Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and customer service; ability to manage multiple projects and respond well under pressure; detail oriented and organized; strong analytical and problem solving ability; ability to thoughtfully establish priorities and work independently and as a part of a team; proficiency in using Datatel/Colleague and/or HR systems preferred, and in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, email and internet usage, Salli, the College's web based integration tool.
