Job Summary: The Area Coordinator (AC) position is based within the department of Residential Life/Learning communities within the division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. The AC plays an important role in furthering the mission and vision of our Department and Division by assisting with the retention and recruitment of our student population, implementing and facilitating connections that focus on the holistic development of our students through support, collaborations and programs. The AC works to advance student engagement with consideration of learning outcomes and initiatives centered around our residential education curricular approach. The AC provides leadership and mentorship to paraprofessional staff and student leaders; collaborates with faculty, staff and students to develop vibrant inclusive communities which encourage student engagement by fostering a safe and inclusive environment. The AC serves on a variety of departmental and divisional committees. Our AC lives on campus and within the community they would directly oversee. Therefore, the AC is available to staff and students outside regular business hours during crisis situations or other critical times as needed. This role is a 12 month position based within the department.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling or related field from an accredited US Department of Education or internationally recognized institution.


  • At least 1 year experience working with college students in a higher education setting.


  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Two years' experience as a Resident Director including supervising Resident Assistants.


  • Knowledge of student support programs and services, and crisis intervention techniques; non-clinical front-line assessment and referral skills; and organizing and coordinating skills.


  • Experience working with student conduct adjudicating and managing student conduct cases.


Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm (some nights and weekends required)
