East Tennessee State University (ETSU) invites applications for the position of Director of University Career Services in the Division of Student Life and Enrollment.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Student Life and Enrollment, the Director of University Career Services (UCS) plans, oversees and reports on UCS services for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni, including career planning, internships and experiential learning, job searches, and employment opportunities.  The director also oversees services to other constituents, including employers and ETSU course instructors.  The director is responsible for oversight and evaluation of UCS staffing, finances, daily operations, and special programming and events.  The director develops and maintains strong relationships with ETSU academic units, academic advising offices, Student Life and Enrollment units, and Alumni Affairs.  In partnership with the office of institutional research the director assesses and reports on ETSU students’ participation in internships and other forms of experiential learning and their post-graduation employment outcomes.

The director provides strategic leadership and implements innovative strategies that serve undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni regarding career education.  The director also promotes communication regarding academic programs and related career options, transferable skills, and employment information.  The director develops and fosters relationships with departments and units on campus as well as with employers and external agencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or comparably recognized non-U.S. institution
  • 5 years of professional experience in career services or a related area in higher education, business, government, or non-profit settings
