The System Administrator is responsible for managing the University internal and external service-related infrastructure, including hardware and software, configuration and maintenance. This a full time, benefits eligible, on-campus position.



  • Manage University server infrastructure; Install, configure and maintain fleet of internal Windows & Linux servers in VMWare environment and internal server hardware, including virtual server hosts, SAN & related hardware; provide planning and technical assistance on new projects and deployments; configure, maintain and provide change management for infrastructure related to AD systems, such as GPOs, identity management and certificate management
  • Install, configure and maintain University software infrastructure; contribute to planning and deployment of software applications on campus; provide installation and configuration for server based applications, such as patch and print management systems; administrate University cloud based systems; provide technical assistance to other departments concerning campus systems such as the campus ERP
  • Ensure University systems security and integrity; participate in IT security discussions, and provide guidance and expert knowledge; ensure timely patches of critical security flaws on all servers and endpoint systems; participate in regular vulnerability scanning and security assessments; respond to campus security issues
  • Ensure proper documentation of IT activities; ensure all system updates are properly documented in the University change management system; manage incident, request, change and project tasks using the ServiceDesk ITSM platform; fulfill standard service requests within specified SLA targets



  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education, experience and accomplishment.
  • Minimum of five years’ related experience
  • Related certifications such as MCSE or RHCE is preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Linux systems, SSO principles
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
