The Assistant Director of Housing Assignments is responsible for coordinating and managing all housing assignment processes. The Assistant Director of Housing Assignments provides fair and equitable leadership and direction in the areas of occupancy management, room assignments, and billing to support to enhance an environment of equity, diversity, and inclusion. The Assistant Director of Housing Assignments is a front-line responder to on-campus emergencies, serves in an administrator on call rotation and is required to work daytime and non-traditional hours including nights and weekends. The primary goal of this position is to establish a cohesive and inclusive residential program that utilizes diversity and social justice practices to promote student success.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The Assistant Director shall work under the direct supervision of the Director of Residence Life.
This is an APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 5:00 (Evening and weekend hours may be required) (Saturday and Sundays as days off)

CORE DUTIES: 1. Provide general day to day management of the housing assignments process including room assignments and billing functions for our diverse community of residential students. 2. Manage The Housing Director (THD) software and data base. Provide multicultural and inclusive training for staff. Create and maintain manuals and reports as necessary. 3. Manage and project occupancy levels to ensure that all vacancies are filled.4. Oversee the coordination and distribution of residence hall occupancy and resident student data in an effort to help the institution make data-driven decisions.5. Utilize diversity and social justice practices to coordinate all processes related to the assignment of rooms: the maintenance of room rosters, housing waiting lists, and coordination with the Admissions Office to house incoming students. 6. Implement all facets of the Room Selection and the Housing Wait List processes. 7. Develop and revise as necessary forms and information utilized in the administration of the residence halls. 8. Provide functional supervision to Administrative Assistants within the area of housing assignments and residence hall occupancy. Provide on-going training, feedback, and communication. 9. Assist the Assistant Director of Residence Life with the coordination of the housing assignments related processes of recruitment and selection of residence life personnel. 10. Assist the Assistant Director of Residence Life with the planning, physically locating and implementation of the Living Learning Communities program. 11. Serve as a hearing officer, fairly and equitably adjudicate assigned cases in violation of the student code of conduct as assigned by the department. 12. Assist in the implementation of the overall vision for the department of Residence Life and Housing.13. Assist with the maintenance of the standard operating procedures manual(s) for residence life personnel. 14. Plan and implement assessment efforts that inform data driven decision making for the housing assignments process. 15. Establish and maintain positive relationships with personnel in other university departments. 16. Liaison with students, family members, and other constituents on issues related to room assignments and billing. OTHER DUTIES: 1. Serve in the Administrator-on call rotation as assigned. 2. Represent the Director and/or department at meetings as assigned. 3. Assist with projects and initiatives as assigned by the Director of Residence Life and Housing or designee. 4. Serve as a chair/co-chair of a departmental committee and serve as a member of other departmental committees as assigned. 5. Participate in divisional committees, task forces and projects as assigned by the Director of Residence Life and Housing or designee. 6. Attend all staff meetings and professional development sessions as determined by Residence Life and Housing and/or Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. 7. Support and attend University events and programs. 8. Remain current and seek out additional training opportunities on topics such as cultural competence, equity, and other relevant topics. 9. Provide written reports (i.e. monthly reports, assessment reports and end of the year reports) and summaries as requested by Residence Life and Housing and/or Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. 10. Other duties as assigned.

1. Bachelor’s degree 2. Three years of post-baccalaureate experience in higher education. 3. Knowledge of and or background in computerized housing systems. 4. 7. Ability to communicate appropriately and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
