ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, GRADUATE STUDENT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, Career Advising and Professional Development (CAPD) (part-time, 75%), to assist with developing and delivering a full range of workshops and seminars, help coordinate a graduate student professional development ecosystem across MIT, collaborate with co-curricular partners, and work with academic departments to aid in the creation of professional development curricula and programming specific to their units. Will join a team responsible for establishing and maintaining a co-curricular professional development curriculum that fosters a culture of enrichment and support at the graduate level and provides master’s and Ph.D. students with key skills so that they are poised to lead and excel in their professional lives. Responsibilities include coordinating and facilitating the delivery of a comprehensive suite of professional development programs, including individual and group advising, workshops, seminars, and workplace preparation and networking events; providing a range of professional development services and conducting needs assessment; designing and delivering targeted programs/services, assessing learning and development outcomes, determining program evaluation results, and reporting results/findings; supporting larger-scale signature events for broader and underserved communities that showcase academic careers and careers beyond academia; curating content for the graduate student professional development webpage, identifying relevant professional development materials/resources, and creating additional materials as appropriate; contributing to outreach and communications strategy related to program marketing, development, and strategic partnerships; assisting with developing employer partnerships; and collaborating with and providing limited supervision to graduate community fellow(s).
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in counseling, higher education, student services, or related field; and at least three years’ experience in a career center or higher education setting related to career or professional development, preferably working with and master’s Ph.D. students. Salary range: $50,295-56,250
This is a part-time, 75% position. The position will offer some schedule flexibility and remote work options. There will be occasional night and weekend work.
