With the University of Notre Dame engaging in municipal and industry partnerships in the region focused on data, analytics, and innovation, the Center for Civic Innovation (CCI) was established in 2018 to help build projects that improve infrastructure, public services, processes, and environmental sustainability. Developing and maintaining community engaged internship and academic year opportunities for Notre Dame students, and providing an infrastructure for seamless faculty engagement, is key to the success of civic innovation and industry projects. Engagement with other educational institutions in the South Bend-Elkhart region is also crucial to this work, specifically with the Labs for Industry Futures and Transformation (LIFT) Network and associated iNDustry Labs at Notre Dame.


Key responsibilities of the CCI Internship Program Manager - Elkhart position include:


• Recruit a diverse group of college and high school students and professional mentors from Notre Dame and regional partners for the CCI Elkhart, IN summer internship program and academic year programming


• Scope (plan, budget, prepare) new community-engaged summer internship and academic year projects for students related to regional civic and industry needs


• Establish an infrastructure for faculty to easily engage in CCI summer and Academic Year programming


• Coordinate meetings and plan events


• Develop and maintain regional civic innovation and industry partnerships


• Coordinate capstone project opportunities across regional partners in the LIFT network


• Communicate details of iNDustry Labs projects across multiple stakeholder groups


• Other program administrative support as needed.


A preferred candidate has been identified for this position.


This is a limited-term position ending 6/30/2025.


Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor’s Degree by June 1st of year hired and at least 1 year project management experience required. This position requires organizational skills, ability to work with diverse teams, communication across broad groups of stakeholders, scheduling and planning, professional writing, and presenting information/public speaking. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with academic community engagement preferred. Ability to learn new software required (as needed). Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
