Created by the Oklahoma Territorial Legislature in 1890, the University of Oklahoma (OU) is a doctoral degree-granting research university serving the educational, cultural, economic, and health-care needs of the state, region, and nation. OU consists of three campus locations in Oklahoma as well as several centers abroad. The Norman campus serves as home to all of the university’s academic programs except health-related fields. OU enrolls almost 32,000 students, has more than 2,800 full-time faculty members, and has 21 colleges offering 172 majors at the baccalaureate level, 156 majors at the master’s level, 81 doctoral-level majors and 54 graduate certificates.

Organization: University Counseling Center

Job Location: Norman, Oklahoma

Schedule: Full-time

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, occasional evening/outreach

Salary Range: Up to $60,000 annually, based on experience

Job Description

This position will serve as an individual contributor on a team of counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists. Provides individual, couple, and group counseling to students, faculty and staff at the University of Oklahoma.


Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor Degree OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:

  • 18-36 months clinical counseling experience



  • Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
  • Individual, couple and group counseling, and outreach



  • Ability to obtain Oklahoma State License within 18 months of hire.


Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Might need to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to engage in repetitive motions; grasp objects with fingers or hands and communicate effectively.


Departmental Preferences:

  • LPC or LADC


Supervision: No Supervisory Duties
