Job Description:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is looking to hire an Instructional Specialist in the Creative School for Children. This is a lead teacher position in a childcare setting. This position shall have the following professional duties and responsibilities:

-Monitor and provide for the safety of all children.

-Design and plan a curriculum developmentally appropriate and educationally sound for the class grouping. Plans will include accommodations for unique differences in developmental levels and learning styles of each child. The program will provide daily schedules, regular routines, and materials necessary for implementing the curriculum through group and individual instruction.

-Assist children in developing the tools necessary for resolving conflicts using the school’s guidance policy.

-Present written curriculum plans to the educational supervisor or director one month in advance.

-Include parents in the program in ways that will be enriching and helpful to the program.

-Maintain a complete portfolio of each child tracking his/her developmental growth. This will include samples of art, writing (where appropriate), developmental check lists, anecdotal notes, teacher observations, parent conferences, and any other information pertaining to the child’s adjustment, needs, growth, and development.

Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm, subject to change.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Early Childhood Special Education from an accredited institution. Must meet university criteria for appointment at the rank of instructional specialist.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of DCF's 40-hour training requirement. Additional preferences include previous teaching experience with children between the ages of 6 weeks to 2 years old at a NAEYC-accredited center.
