Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development

Position Summary

The Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development directs and manages all athletic fundraising associated with the Department of Athletic; oversees development, Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation, priority programs, and premium seating, all focused on revenue generation; and expands the growth of the Foundation to support the University's Department of Athletics.


Essential Functions

  • Provides leadership to Athletic Development Office with personal responsibility for major and capital gifts (primarily gifts of more than $10,000).
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of Athletic Foundation staff.
  • Serves as point-of-contact for members of the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation (GSAF) Board.
  • Formulates, activates, and manages annual fund-raising activities.
  • Develops and administers annual fundraising events.
  • Oversees donor membership base.
  • Reports financials, develops communication plan, and establishes a yearly calendar of meetings for the GSAF Board.
  • Creates innovative strategies to increase support for Athletics programs and enhance University loyal fan base.
  • Manages portfolio of 75-100 prospects in active cultivation/solicitation, with 15-20 major gift solicitations annually.
  • Directs Sport Supervisor of assigned sport(s).
  • Reports known or suspected violations of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) or conference regulations to appropriate Athletic or institutional administrator.
  • Performs related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University.


Education & Experience

Minimum Education Required:  Bachelor’s degree

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Effective communication skills (verbal and written); developed organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; and successful completion of background investigation prior to employment

Preferred Education: Master’s degree
