The Office of Finance at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for a Financial Services Specialist I position. This position will key data, monitor, analyze and reconcile fixed asset related transactions in the Banner fixed assets module; maintain and assist with the implementation of upgrades to the fixed asset Banner module; and assist in conducting inventory of fixed assets.
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices to include fixed asset accounting. Knowledge of the use of data processing techniques in maintaining accounting records. Knowledge of automated financial systems. Strong analytical and research skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong Microsoft Office skills to include Word and Excel. Demonstrated ability to apply and adapt established accounting methods to a variety of financial transactions and records. Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports and statements. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Some experience in fixed assets accounting. Some experience keying, analyzing, reconciling, and monitoring in an automated database.
Considerable experience specializing in the area of fixed assets accounting related to keying data into an automated computer system, analyzing, and reconciling data. Experience using Banner or a similar program. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Experience in higher education.
