Reporting to the Sports Information Director, the Assistant Sports Information Director assists in all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III Athletics and Recreation Sports Information Department. This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position.
Assist in the day to day media activities and duties, coordinate the writing, design, and dissemination of specific materials, maintain and track official statistics of athletic events and student athletes.
Coordinate archiving and maintenance of records, photos, file, etc. for all SUNY Old Westbury athletics and recreation sponsored events.
Attend all post season Skyline games and NCAA contests. Travel may be required within regular season.
Attend Orientations and Service Fairs.
Design, write and edit process a variety of print- and digital-based content, ranging from game programs, special event publications, press releases, marketing materials and more.
Maintain official athletic website (www.oldwestburypanthers.com), management of the department's social media accounts and development of media guides.
Produce and track official statistics of athletic events and student athletes and assist in all statistics, record books, photography and historical archiving.
Assist in the development and production of content for the Panthers All-Access and social media platforms.
Oversee compilation and organization of video footage and edit/produce feature videos, highlights and other similar materials.
Aid in the training of game day sports information staff.
Send visiting team guide to visiting teams. Greet visiting teams on game day and provide direction within Clark Athletic Center.
Flexible schedule required for game day coverage including nights and weekends. Occasional overnight travel required.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) and a minimum of two (2) years of experience within sports information field required (graduate assistant positions and internships are acceptable). Familiarity with social media platforms and current trends in the industry. Working knowledge of Windows and Macintosh computers and operating systems. Experience and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, After Effects) or other design/video production software required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
The ideal candidate must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and work independently and in a team-oriented environment and must have a commitment to student-athlete academic success and well-being. Must have and maintain the appropriate valid NYS driver's license and have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Experience with multicultural student body populations.
Hands-on experience with statistical programs (Statcrew, Genius Sports).
