The Department of Athletics at the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Associate Sports Information Director. The position is a full-time, 10 month, non-tenure track position beginning August 1, 2019. Expectations are to assist the Sports Information Director with the daily operation of the Sports Information Office and home event coverage. Located in the Leatherstocking Region of New York State, SUNY Oneonta is a mid-size, public, liberal arts and sciences college with a pre-professional focus. The College enrolls approximately 6,500 students in a wide variety of bachelor’s degree programs and a number of graduate certificates and degrees. Duties include but not limited to: overseeing the development, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive strategic marketing, promotions and social media plan for home athletic events for 21 sports targeting a diverse audience of campus and external constituents, managing home event statistical staff and supervising student workers and interns; maintenance and enhancements to the Athletics homepage; writing, editing and layout of game programs, weekly sports recaps and the DragonTales newsletter which is produced three times a year; producing the end of year highlight video for the annual awards ceremony; and special projects as assigned. The position also manages a variety of public relation activities on-campus and within the community. The nature of this position is such that it requires working nights and weekends.
Required qualifications: bachelor’s degree; proficient working knowledge of Stat Crew scoring software and PrestoSports statistical software; working knowledge of social media platforms specifically Twitter, Instagram and Facebook; strong writing skills; experience in webpage use and development; proficient working knowledge in publication layout and design using Adobe Creative Suite for Macintosh computers; experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred: experience working in a sports information office; supervisory experience with interns and work study students; experience with video editing software for both Mac and Windows platforms; experience working with and serving diverse populations.
